Can we make perennial pastures work in our South West of WA?
Most farmers love the idea but know how challenging it can be to establish perennials where there is a competitive annual species seedbank.
This is one in a series of events at several locations featuring a Q&A with an experienced farmer and agronomist.
The aim is to equip farmers with an understanding on what’s needed to give perennials the best chance of survival.
We’ll discuss weed management, grazing management and the current species on the market.
And we’ll take a walk through paddocks supporting perennials and hear what lessons were learned.

Garry Haddon
Garry is a dairy farmer committed to improving sustainability. He has trialled the hybrid perennial ryegrass Shogun and is planning another trial.
Sam Taylor
Sam has years experience advising farmers on pasture management in the South West.
Daniel Real
Daniel has more than 25 years experience in breeding both annual and perennial legumes for temperate, subtropical and Mediterranean climates. Daniel manages DPIRD’s Pasture 365 trial at Manjimup Research Institute which is trialling a range of perennial mixes.
