Investment Prospectus 2025-26
Want to contribute to the protection and recovery of one of the most biologically important, yet most threatened places on earth? We collaborate with industry, community, Traditional Custodians and government, to restore Western Australia’s South West.
Add your name to the story!
Our South West is an internationally recognised ‘Global Biodiversity Hotspot’. That means it has an exceptional and rich level of biodiversity but also faces a significant level of threat. Day by day the pressures grow due to the triple threat of climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation.
From the coastline to the forests, nature here is treasured by locals and visitors alike. Our South West is home to over 8,000 plant species but more than 100 plants and animals are at risk of extinction. This includes iconic mammals like quokkas, numbats, woylies, and western ringtail possums, birds like the three species of black-cockatoo, plus frogs, reptiles and many plant species.
There’s no doubt, nature here is in trouble.
How you can help.

We are collaborators
For over 20 years, South West NRM has partnered with businesses and communities to restore and sustain WA’s South West ecosystems.
Our team of environmental scientists and sustainable agriculture experts are hands-on changemakers, delivering evidence-based solutions that enhance biodiversity, productivity, and sustainability.
As the region’s leading environmental organisation and charity, we collaborate with landcare groups, Noongar communities, government, industry, and landholders. Independent and not-for-profit, we remain agile, responsive, and deeply trusted.
Rooted in science and respect, we uphold Traditional Custodian knowledge while leveraging cutting-edge research to protect and restore both natural and agricultural landscapes for future generations.
How we have helped
The western ringtail possum – also known by its Noongar name Ngwayir – has lost 90% of its original habitat. Environmental destruction, predation, and climate change have driven this species to the edge of extinction, leaving it restricted to just a fraction of its former range.
To help its survival, South West NRM (with support from a variety of partners) has undertaken numerous actions such as:
- Installed possum bridges to connect fragmented habitats
- Restored vital forest habitats
- Implemented predator control measures
- Supported research and monitoring programs
- Educated communities about responsible pet ownership
