South West NRM recognises the continuing Custodianship of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over the land on which we work.

Our Approach
We aim to integrate the wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with innovative environmental solutions, co-designing a future where the health of our South West environment and community thrives, reflecting a shared journey towards reconciliation.
We support greater participation and meaningful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our region, ensuring their 60,000-plus years of knowledge and experience guides natural resource management planning and decision-making.
This includes two-way learning through the exchange of knowledge, combining cultural and science-based insights to ensure ongoing learning about caring for Country in a changing climate.
We hope our continuing journey towards reconciliation will be one of shared experiences and collective involvement, emphasising the crucial role of trust, partnership, and influential leadership in conservation efforts and environmental outcomes.
